Payment Gateway Charges

Payment Gateway

Websites and Storefronts that accept online payment use “Payment Gateways” such as PayPal, Stripe or many others found at a Country and Regional level.  Payment Gateways follow strict monetary policy and secure policies to protect against fraudulent activity and verify Credit-Cards are legitimate and not stolen etc.  All business operations that wish to take online payments must register with an approved Payment Gateway provider and create an Account, the Account typically being linked to the Business Bank Account for receipt and transfer of monies earned online.

All Payment Gateways charge an administration or operation fee, generally either as a fixed sum per transaction or a % of the value of the transaction and in some cases, both.  Each Payment Gateway provider publish the applicable rules and charges on their respective website in the interest of public disclosure.  These charges are applied to every transaction with a business determining if the end-user of a website will pay the administration charge or if the business itself will cover the charge.

Payment Gateways also provide a Management Administration area that may provide clear tracking of orders relating to each client, date, time, ordered items and value etc., and can extend to tax calculations and shipment fees depending on Gateway chosen.  The Management dashboard makes for an effective means of tracking your online business.

 

SellOnLine:

SellOnLine use the Stripe Payment Gateway for all transactions.  For SellOnLine, all payments are conducted in US$ with local currency equivalent calculated at the precise time of payment using the Stripe exchange rate between the US$ and your local currency.  SellOnLine additionally use multiple security protocols to protect against the possibility of malicious attacks, hacking, data intrusion or “man-in-the-middle” interaction, through encoded data communications and additional (non-disclosed) tools to ensure successful completion of an Order and prevent intervention by unscrupulous parties.

 

Client Choice of Gateway:

When a client signs up with SellOnLine they may specify any preferred payment Gateway provider in their respective country.  SellOnLine will investigate the Payment Gateway provided to ensure that they meet specific security measures and that we can provide a secure connection.  Please note that whilst we have an extensive range of local Payment Gateway providers in each country, we cannot necessarily guarantee we can connect to all.

In event that we are unable to connect to the requested Gateway provider, we shall inform you in writing and ask for a further option.  If all else fails PayPal and Stripe are two of the most common International Gateways available and may be used as a last resort.

Clients are requested to confirm the default standard currency for the Gateway (typically the currency of the country the business is situated but can vary as with SellOnLine).  Additionally as detailed, clients are asked if the pricing absorbs the cost of the Gateway or if the business will absorb the cost.

SellOnLine can provide the respective interface from our system to the agreed Gateway, however the Client is responsible to ensure that the Gateway is correctly set up for notifications of purchases, statement of refund policies, actions taken by the Gateway etc.  SellOnLine shall not be held accountable for any mistakes made in setup and operation of the Payment Gateway.
